SPY Magic in the morning: why laddering off the open is the whole game
Since bringing live trading back to The Garden we are now 12 wins and 3 losses on SPY trades. That is not luck. That is a system.
Here is what makes the open so readable with SPY Magic combined with simple price action; when you see multiple orders hitting the same direction in quick succession right at 9:30 and escalating in size, stacking at the same or nearby strikes , that is called laddering. Laddering off the open is one of the clearest tells in the tape. Somebody is building a position in real time and they are not trying to hide it. They want to be in before price confirms the direction and they are willing to keep adding as it moves.
This morning the 723c 5/15 printed four times between 7am and 8am pre-market, all ASK-side, all Repeated Hits, escalating from $114K to $349K. That is a ladder. That is the signal. By the time the open hit we already knew where the conviction was sitting and we traded accordingly.
